What is 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz?
In the Requirement list for Using eufySecurity Devices, a 2.4 GHz WiFi is needed for most of the eufySecurity devices. What is 2.4 GHz WiFi? you may ask. 2.4 GHz is one of two WiFI frequency bands for routers’ signals. Some routers have either 2.4 GHz WiFi or 5 GHz, the others are dual-brand routers.
Differences Between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
The most apparent difference between 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz is the signal range and bandwidth that they can support. The 2.4 GHz band has a wider bandwidth (more WiFi coverage); the 5 GHz band is possession of a faster WiFi speed.
What is WiFi Channel?
Within the two WiFi frequency bands (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), there are smaller brands that are referred to as WiFi channels. For example, in the US, the 2.4 GHz band has 11 channels and the 5 GHz band has 45 channels. Through these WiFi channels, our wireless networks can receive and send data.
Why change WiFi Channels?
Sometimes, a WiFi channel may have a conference that may be caused by a few devices using the same channel. There might also be interference from adjacent channels. You may find the signal of the camera is weak or the camera even is offline. Changing the WiFi channel might help to solve the issue.
How to change WiFi Channels?
- Prepare a PC or Mac and open a Web browser
- Find router IP address
- In MAC
- In PC
- Log into your router’s settings page by typing its IP address (example: http://123.456.7.8)
NOTES:
- Use the username and password you designated when creating your WiFi network. (can always be found in your router)
- The IP address always starts with http:// followed by four number sequences separated by dots. For example: http://123.456.1.1.
- Go to the wireless settings to change the WiFi channel. Example:
